Our Therapeutic Approaches

At Repploy Counselling & ASD Services, we recognise that no two individuals are the same. Each person brings unique experiences, strengths, challenges, and goals into therapy. Our approach is flexible, person-centred, and grounded in evidence-based practices that are adapted to suit the individual rather than applied rigidly.

We work with children, young people, adults, families, and carers, including autistic and neurodivergent clients, and tailor each approach to support emotional safety, regulation, insight, and meaningful change.

Below is an overview of the therapeutic frameworks we commonly draw from in our work.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a structured, goal-focused approach that explores the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. At Repploy, CBT-informed strategies may support clients to:

  • Identify unhelpful thinking patterns
  • Develop practical coping strategies
  • Build emotional regulation and problem-solving skills
  • Increase insight into how thoughts influence behaviour

CBT is adapted to suit each client’s communication style, processing needs, and lived experience, including modifications for autistic and neurodivergent individuals where appropriate.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT focuses on supporting individuals to develop psychological flexibility — learning to relate differently to difficult thoughts and emotions while taking meaningful action aligned with personal values.

ACT-informed work may support clients to:

  • Manage anxiety, trauma responses, and chronic stress
  • Increase self-compassion and emotional awareness
  • Clarify values and build a sense of purpose
  • Develop healthier responses to internal challenges

ACT is often well-suited for clients who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from what matters most to them.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

DBT-informed strategies are used to support emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. While Repploy does not provide full clinical DBT programs, we draw on DBT principles where appropriate to help clients:

  • Manage intense emotions
  • Reduce impulsive or harmful behaviours
  • Improve communication and relationship skills
  • Build practical tools for coping with distress

This approach is often helpful for young people, trauma-impacted individuals, and clients who experience emotional overwhelm.

Mindfulness & Regulation Support

Mindfulness & Regulation Support is a guided, regulation-focused approach designed to complement counselling and therapeutic work. This support may assist clients to:

  • Reduce anxiety and stress
  • Improve body awareness and grounding
  • Support nervous system regulation
  • Develop calming routines and emotional safety

Mindfulness and regulation strategies are offered in a trauma-informed and sensory-aware manner and are adapted for autistic and neurodivergent clients where appropriate. This support does not replace counselling or clinical therapy but may be used alongside therapeutic work to enhance wellbeing, emotional regulation, and nervous system safety.

Our Approach in Practice

At Repploy Counselling & ASD Services, we understand that effective therapy is not one-size-fits-all. We adapt therapeutic approaches to suit each individual’s communication style, emotional needs, lived experience, and goals.

Our work is trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, and focused on creating emotional safety, practical insight, and sustainable change. Rather than rigidly following a single therapy model, we integrate evidence-based strategies that best support the person in front of us.

We work collaboratively with children, teens, adults, couples, parents, carers, and families across a wide range of presentations, including trauma, emotional dysregulation, neurodivergence, addiction, grief, relationship challenges, and behavioural concerns.
